Stepp’s Hillcrest Orchard, Hendersonville, NC

Stepp’s Hillcrest Orchard of Hendersonville is complete with genuine, down-to- earth people, a kid friendly atmosphere and great for a family outing. There are plenty of delicious apples to pick, more than 20 different types in total to choose from, and the cider doughnuts are incredible after-picking treats. Take in the glorious sounds and smells of nature and dine at one of the picnic tables if you decide to pack a lunch to picnic at the orchard. During the weekend, family friendly activities are set up for some extra fun including the apple cannon to shoot apples at a target, taking a walk on the nature trail or enjoying the five-acre corn maze.

Bee Sweet Orchards, Reidsville, NC

At Bee Sweet Orchards, pick your own apples off the three acres of property. The property offers a choice of nine types, including Ginger Gold, Gala, Golden Delicious, Jonagold, and Mutsu apples (not all of which are pick your own. Refer to website). For the best selections, stop by during late July, August, or early September. The orchard is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bee Sweet Orchards is likely to become a fall tradition for your family. 

Devil Dog Orchard, Reidsville, NC

Devil Dog Orchard of Reidsville is family owned is great for a family friendly outing to make memories. Open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Gala, Red Delicious, and Golden Delicious apples are currently ripe and ready to pick. 

Sky Top Orchard, Flat Rock, NC

Experience the delicious apple cider doughnuts, apple cider, and apple cider slushies Sky Top Orchard has to offer. Blueberry Thrill Farm, Gibsonville, NC

Blueberry Thrill Farm is a family-owned farm has been growing tasty fruit and berries on gorgeous property since 1982. On the farm, there are 20 different types of apples to choose from. In September, pick from a variety of apples such as Crimson Crisp, Fiji, Winesap, Golden, Russet, and Cameo apples. In October, pick old-fashioned Winesap, Albemarle Pippin and Goldrush apples. For half a peck, pay only $8. For one full peck, equivalent to about 11 pounds, pay $15. Open Wednesdays and Saturdays from 7 a.m. until 12 p.m., visit the Blueberry Thrill Farm in Gibsonville. 

Grandad’s Apples, Hendersonville, NC

Grandad’s Apples is a great place for their friendly staff, delicious apples, and fun family friendly activities. Although seasonal, this orchard is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. Grandad’s is a great experience for the family to walk about, capture pictures, and pick fresh apples. Guests can also complete the corn maze, visit with the farm animals, or explore the playground for the children for added fun. In the bakery of Grandad’s barn, try the delicious apple cider doughnuts, apple ice cream, apple pies, caramel apples, fresh cider, and cider slushies. 

Apple Hill Orchard, Morganton, NC

Pick apples with confidence: the fruits and vegetables grown on the farm are organic and contain no GMO’s. The farm is open from May to November for visitors to pick fruits and vegetables on Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays, from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m.. And don’t forget to browse the farm store.
