Schedule of Events

Free parking and shuttle Friday night from Vernon Park Mall (834 Hardee Rd) to BBQ Festival.
Shuttle will leave from the old J.C. Penney parking lot from 4:30-11 p.m.
Folding strollers are welcome.

37th annual Wil King Hog Happenin'

2-11 p.m. : Amusement rides
Adult and youth rides will be available, including a Ferris wheel, Super Shot Drop Tower, Swing Ride, Dragon Wagon and merry-go-round
Location: Pearson Park off of Mitchell Street

5 p.m.-until : Annual Chamber Burgers and Brew
Partnering with Mother Earth Brewing and ERA-Kinston Realty Group, we provide the best organic beef burgers and brew around! The Chamber Classic Burger features hand-shaped fresh burgers, cheese, slaw, mustard, ketchup and onions or you can dress your burger to taste! Complement your burger with a serving of hot sweet potato fries. First burgers come off the grill around 5 p.m.

5-11 p.m. : Vendor's Market
Squeal with delight as you peruse through more than 100 items available in the Vendor's Market!
From mouthwatering sweet treats to personalized T-shirts and hot shades, you are sure to find something to "pig out" on, enjoy or take home!

5-9 p.m. : The O'Neil Luxury Hotel Lobby Tours
The O'Neil Luxury Hotel, winner of the 2015 Historical Restoration Award, is the former Farmer's & Merchant's Bank that has been revitalized after being vacant for 30 years. The O'Neil will host lobby tours every half-hour.

5-9 p.m. : Arts Market
Enjoy the indoor art market, offering beautiful works of art from painting to pottery and sculptures to scarves. Don't miss this great shopping experience! Also, see the Plein Air Exhibit and Sales
Location: Building on corner of Gordon and Herritage Streets (indoor market) and Gordon Street and Pearson Park (outside market)

5-9 p.m. : ArtsFest
Come on down to Herritage Landing and release the artist within, paint a pre-designed canvas depicting the festival and downtown scenes. The completed works of art will be on display in the weeks after the festival in downtown Kinston. All ages are welcome to participate.

5-11 p.m. : Carolina Classic Cruisers Cruise-In
Any classic car owner is invited to show off their vehicle at a free event which includes special festival parking.

5-9 p.m. : Find a Hog Bot!
Search for the Hog Bots! Find cute little Hog Bots hidden throughout the ArtsFest area to claim great prizes; you even get to keep your Hog Bot! Hog Bots are handmade by local artists and sponsored by The Overland Gallery and Community Council For the Arts.

5-9 p.m. : Lovick's Café
Festival burgers, hot dogs, fries and more at one of downtown Kinston's most historic restaurants, which recently celebrated 75 years of feeding folks throughout Eastern North Carolina.

5-11 p.m. : Beer Garden
Purchase craft beer by the cup.

5-11 p.m. : Wine Garden

6:30 p.m. : Fourth annual Mother Earth Brewing Home Brew Competition winners announcement

6:45 p.m. : Welcome and introduction of cook teams and sponsors
Wil King Hog Happenin' cook teams and sponsors will be introduced by Tammy Kelly, Laura Lee Sylvester, Miss Kinston-Lenoir County and Miss Kinston-Lenoir County Outstanding Teen. Let's make these teams feel welcome and show our support for both teams and sponsors!

7:30 p.m. : Showmanship competition
Don't miss this competition: The cook teams go all out to really "put on the hog" as they compete for the showmanship awards in this competition. Past teams have entertained festival attendees with all kinds of themes -- from singing cowboys to gambling pigs -- you won't believe that pig cookin' can be so much fun! A preliminary competition to the "Super Bowl of Swine," the Hog Happenin' will host more than 80 award-winning barbecue cookers. Sanctioned by the North Carolina Pork Council, the Hog Happenin' cookoff is one of the most prestigious barbecue competitions in the state. For more information, contact Tammy Kelly at 919-495-1116

The CSS Neuse Foundation will show a history-related movie; snacks, popcorn and drinks will be for sale.
