Elements of Empowerment and City of Belmont host annual Juneteenth Celebration.
Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. It specifically commemorates the June 19, 1865 reading of the Emancipation Proclamation by General Gordon Granger in Galveston, Texas.
The Belmont Juneteenth Celebration became Gaston County's first such event in 2012. It has become a must-attend festival of music, art, and culture. The event day features musical performances and a curated group of vendors who offer artistic, culturally inspired merchandise and food.
The 2023 Belmont Juneteenth Celebration returns to a live event in Stowe Park.
