Getting up and staying active is important, and an excellent way to do that is among your community at a local sports center. Shoot some hops, swim a few laps, run a mile, and more, at North Carolina’s sports centers. Here are our 9 favorites. 

Greensboro Sportsplex, Greensboro, NC

Volleyball, basketball, indoor soccer or in-line hockey fanatic? Greensboro Sportsplex has you covered! All day open play is available for all Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 12 p.m. until 6 p.m.. The Sportsplex offers four indoor soccer fields for all ages. Sportsplex Hockey offers In-Line Hockey Leagues in the spring, fall, and winter seasons for both young and adult players. The volleyball program of Sportsplex offers volleyball clinics and camps throughout the spring and beginning of the summer. During the fall, join Sportsplex’s Pickleball open play. 

Sports Center of Morehead, Morehead City, NC

The Sports Center of Morehead has an activity for everyone! At this Sports Center of Morehead City, there are two aquatic facilities for water aerobics and swim lessons as well as scheduling pool parties and Summer Swim League. For basketball players, this sports center has a full-size court complete with hardwood floors and six goals. Two courts are available on site for racquetball. Also, 40 cardio equipment items for cardio training, equipment for strength training, and a variety of group fitness classes. The group fitness classes are, but not limited to, aerobic classes such as yoga, Pilates, and kickboxing, specialty classes such as flow yoga and circuit, water aerobics and indoor cycling classes. If you are not yet convinced to stop by, child care is offers for children from eight weeks old until six years-old. Child care is available from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. and then 3:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. and then 3:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. on Fridays, and is open from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturdays.

SportsCenter Athletic Club, High Point, NC

This sports center, located in High Point, offers an indoor and outdoor aquatics center, two basketball courts open year-round all day, a fitness room with a variety of machines and equipment, racquetball on four courts, cycling classes, four tennis courts, and indoor and outdoor volleyball courts. On site, there is also a health spa complete with saunas, steam rooms and whirlpool for after your workout. Not feeling fully relaxed? Book a massage therapy appointment. 

House of Sports NC, Wake Forest, NC

In the Wake Forest area? Stop by House of Sports to enjoy an open play of soccer, or basketball. Or if you are interested in classes, there are classes for every age in soccer, basketball, lacrosse or tennis. Youth Leagues at House of Sports are available for soccer, basketball, and lacrosse. For the adults, there is an adult league for those interested in soccer. Open every day from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m., enjoy the two basketball courts, volleyball court, turf room for multi-purpose and the indoor soccer field to get sweaty and play!

Corolla Light Sports Center, Corolla, NC

Corolla Light Sports Center of Corolla Light Resort offers workout fanatics with the second largest sports center of the Outer Banks. The cardio room provides equipment for aerobic workouts, a weight room for strength training, a heated pool, two indoor tennis courts, the dual court for those who wish to play racquetball, group classes and a spa after working out! 

Gym-Fit Sports Center, Charlotte, NC

Offering activities for all ages, Gym-Fit Sports Center provides cheer, tumbling, gymnastics, open gyms/play, and camps. Dance fit has multiple classes for different ages with hip hop, musical theatre dance, lyrical, ballet, tap, jazz and creative movement. The gymnastics program offers beginner gymnastics for both boys and girls, intermediate classes, and advanced classes. Open gym is open for anyone ages six and up on Friday nights from 6 to 8 p.m. Open play is open for children aged one to five years-old on Monday’s from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. 

Ivey M. Redmon Sports Complex, Kernersville, NC

Ivey M. Redmon Sports Complex of Kernersville, North Carolina, offers three baseball/softball fields, two fields for multipurpose, a total of six soccer fields, one cross country course and a playground. The fields are clean, the baseball/softball fields lighted and restroom facilities, as well as concession stands. 

Mecklenburg County Sportsplex, Matthews, NC

Mecklenburg County Sportsplex, located in Matthews, North Carolina, has nine turf and two grass fields that are multipurpose. The fields can be used for many sports such as, but not limited to, soccer, lacrosse, football, field hockey, and rugby. Also at Mecklenburg County Sportsplex is a stadium that can seat up to 2,500 individuals. 

Millis Athletic and Convocation Center, High Point, NC

Located on the High Point University Campus, the Millis Sports Center offers a court for basketball and volleyball players, a swimming pool, six tennis courts, and racquetball courts. Equipment and facilities are available for workouts, strength training, athletic training and for conditioning.
