Sturgill Tree Farms began in 1970, when Dallas Sturgill and Foster Lambert bought a farm together and planted their first Christmas trees in Ashe County, NC. After two wonderful years of great friendship, Foster's declining health led Dallas to buy him out and move forward on his own. From that point, patches of Christmas tree seedlings were added year after year, leading Sturgill Tree Farms to become one of the area's largest growers.

Some 25 years have passed, and we continue to plant, tend, and harvest trees in five different counties in Western North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia, including some of the largest Fraser Firs in the region. Although Sturgill Tree Farms started out with just family employees, we now have 15 year-round employees and as many as 70 additional people working during the annual harvest. We appreciate all our employees and tree buyers, and hope you love our Fraser Fir Christmas trees as much as we do.
