Ayden-Grifton High School Mission
The purpose of Ayden-Grifton High School is to help each student develop mentally, culturally, physically, emotionally, and socially so that he/she may become a productive citizen in our democratic society.
To achieve this aim, we support the following statements of philosophy:
We believe that the school should adapt its curriculum to the needs of the individual student, the school and the community.
We should help the student to become proficient in the fundamentals of education by encouraging him/her to achieve personal development through individual work, activities, supplementary books, visual aids, and optional assignments.
We should instill within each student the importance of good health habits and desire to maintain these habits.
We should inspire the student to attain high moral standards and guide him/her to have respect for himself/herself and others.
We should teach the student to be self-sufficient and help him/her develop desirable work habits.
We should guide the student to use leisure time wisely through physical education, interest clubs, and social activities.
We hope that through our use of aesthetic exposure and vocational studies in the teaching of academic material, each student will find learning an enjoyable experience.
We believe that if a student is to fulfill his/her role as a citizen in a democracy, the school must serve as a laboratory that teaches the essentials of democratic living.
We, as teachers hope that under our direction and guidance the student will learn to practice those principals taught by the Master Teacher.
In order to fulfill goals stated in the philosophy, we adhere to the following suggestions:
To provide an environment that is conducive to meeting school and community needs.
To enable the student to realize his/her own potentials and to develop some degree of knowledge of the decision-making process by offering different courses in scope and sequence.
To instill sound health habits by promoting good health practices.
To develop high moral and ethical standards through reflective thinking.
To develop good study habits by encouraging intellectual curiosity and scholastic excellence through the use of available resources.
To encourage wise use of leisure time and promote recreational habits and interests that may carry over into worthwhile adult avocations.
To encourage aesthetic understanding through enrichment in vocational studies and the arts.
