About
Valley River Vineyards was named for the Valley River in Cherokee County, North Carolina. The vineyards and winery are family owned and operated by Bill & Brenda Reece.
In 1997, the first vines were planted in Andrews, NC at the Reece home from where the Valley River could be seen meandering through the fields of a valley that lies between the Snowbird and Tusquittee mountain ranges.
Several years later, Bill was able to put his plan of expansion into motion and planted four acres of vines at Brenda's family Stalcup farmland on Martins Creek Road Murphy NC.
Once fields of corn grew there and children searched for fair crosses after the ground was plowed. Foxhounds ran thru the night across Stalcup Mountain that overlooks the fields where a stream runs through, teaming with brim, and where hardy vines now grow.
The winery was build in 2004 and opened October 26, 2006, offering wines made from Vinifera, French hybrid and native grapes.
